No, I don’t mean wasted as in heavily drinking and laughing till you pee your pants or fall down – or both.
Yesterday was another one of *those* days, you know, the kind I’ve had an awful lot of lately?
Like the day before it which was a major cluster-f*ck too. I had to take DD to the post-concussion evaluation doctor downtown, got lost, (the directions were bad) and then was very late for the appointment. Afterward we went straight to a meeting I had with a new client. Well, I met with a friend who works with and got me the new client.
Anyway, the two appointments scheduled back-to-back had me and the kids spending about 2 hours in the car, an hour at the doctors office and probably another 1 ½ hours at my meeting.
The good thing is; the kids were awesome about it, I’ll soon be getting some more work and DD is recovering from her concussion well. So it was all worth it but also a HUGE time-sucker.
Yesterday was a different story; not quite as productive. I slept like crap the night before and then couldn’t drink enough coffee to get me going in the morning. I had a lot to do but had to stop before I could really get started and clean my house. A showing was scheduled for that afternoon and the house was beyond overdue for the ‘big clean’. And it really needed it after the Halloween party I hosted for 6 adults and 10 kids a few days before. I wish I could afford a cleaning service.
I got it all done just in time to shower and leave, pick up DD at the bus and then run to LO’s doctor’s appointment to get her cast off. Except after waiting 30 minutes, finally getting the cast off and then taking more x-rays, it was decided that we needed to put another cast back on. LO was not quite healed enough for a 4-year-old who can’t stop being a 4 year old and who doesn’t know how to “take it easy”.
This time the nurses did the cast and they f’ed it up. It wasn’t done at a 90 degree angle and LO couldn’t walk right so off it came and cast #3 – now bright pink instead of purple - was put on by the doctor. By the time we left it was about 5:30 and we had been there for 1 ½ hours.
I had planned to hit Costco afterward because Mother Mindy’s cupboards were very bare so we spent the next hour shopping to restock our kitchen. I really need to remember not to take my kids to Costco with me again. It’s already costly enough without them wanting this and that not to mention I’m racking up debt on the credit cards just so I can feed my family.
By the time we got home and everything was unloaded, put away and I finally sat down it was 7:30. I left the house at 3:00.
It does feel good to have a clean house and stocked kitchen but I wish we hadn’t had to spend all that time at the doctors just to leave in the same condition as when we arrived (except with another $30 co-pay and bigger bill).
With days like this coming on such a regular basis it really is like swimming upstream to make any progress let alone just keep up. I do what I gotta do though. Amazing how some people have no idea and then complain about sending child support payments like it's a major sacrifice. Please.
On another note, CoCo is in town for the weekend so I’m a happy momma to get to spend some time with my biggest baby again. I’ll be making dinner for us tonight before she heads out with friends and I have a feeling I won’t be seeing much of her after that.
The rest of the weekend I’m hoping to get in some ‘me time’ and just relax a bit. Wish me luck!

I hope you have a relaxing weekend !
I slept like crap a couple of days ago and it totally sucks when that day turns into a huge to do list.
I hope you find a good buyer.
Wow girl. Hope you're able to put your feet up and get some rest.
Enjoy Coco!
I get it. Believe me I get it. When you're not in an "employment" relationship and you're let go, there's no unemployment, no stat anywhere that reflects your situation. Certainly no disability if you're sick or injured.
The ones that make me shake my head are those who think we Americans just rack up credit card debt buying ourselves baubles and who-knows-what. We've been eating on credit for more than a year. It does keep me in my skinny jeans though (she smiles).
Hope you get some much-deserved rest this weekend!
Hope your weekend is good
That whole cast thing sounds like a nightmare!!
Don't get TOO relaxed this weekend - you just know that's when the phone will ring with another showing. But I do hope you get some rest.
Oh girl I am so sorry, I need you to email me all three girls sizes. We have decided instead of adopting an angel family we will help your family.
Days like that drive me absolutely NUTS. I am not good with making multiple stops and getting in and out of the car - add kids along for the ride - and I'd be a raving lunatic by the end of that day.
Enjoy your time w/ your biggest baby.
It's a new week, so here's wishing you a calm one - with no crises and fewer challenges!
Hope you had a good weekend!
Some sleep and "ME" time in.
Sounds like a difficult week you had! I hope you had a relaxing weekend!
I followed your money problems and I feel so sorry you have to go through this stress. I was wondering if you didn't think of opening some kind of bussiness, let's say a family home daycare, or something else that would attract you, to supplement your income. We can see these days steady employment seems close to impossible to find.
